Also, did you contact the manufacturer of your device to check if you have the latest driver that is compatible with your Windows version? Thanks for your response. As I said, if I go to the Epson website and download the latest driver, the Fax and Scan works fine for a period of time, then it comes up with the message that it cannot find the scanner - the printer, which is the same machine, still runs OK all the time, so it is obviously some problem with the scanning drivers or, at least, something to do with scanning. My old computer is running windows Vista, so I can't think that there would be a comparison, because I never used Fax and Scan with that old computer.
I like the Win Fax and Scan because, although there is a scanner program within the Epson software, I find that the type of scanning I need is quicker with the Win program. To let Windows try to help you fix the problem, you may run the Hardware troubleshooter and check.

Fax and Scan works fine for a while, then says that it can't find the scanner - it still recognises the printer and prints OK. I then download the Epson scanner drivers from their website, and it the scanner woks OK for a day or two, then again says it can't fin the scanner.

In reply to Kris Ver's post on November 28, I don't recall having made any changes - I probably don't know how to, anyway!! It just seems strange that Fax and Scan run well for a while, then suddenly it doesn't recognise the scanner. As soon as I re-download and install the Epson driver, it works fine for a day or two, sometimes a week or two, then the same problem arises. Thanks for your reply. I've checked that WIA is running in automatic mode.

I've tried this, but, of course, the Fax and Scan is working OK, so no problems were detected. Perhaps I'd better wait until it goes into 'do not recognise scanner' mode, and try this again to see if anything shows up. This site in other languages x.
